Review: Star Wars Adventures: Ghosts of Kashyyyk

Creators: John Barber: Writer, Derek Charm: Artist & Colorist, Tom B. Long: Letterer

For 27 issues and counting Star Wars Adventures has given fans all ages stories featuring characters from all parts of the saga. I have really enjoyed their stories featuring Finn, Poe and Rey along with some really fun new characters.

In issue 27, the series kicks off its tie in story for The Rise of Skywalker. This story revolves around Chewbacca returning to Kashyyyk to prevent the First Order from occupying the planet.

In his mission Chewie is joined by Resistance agents Nien Numb, and new characters Beaumont and Daz. These characters bring some much needed translation for the motives of our favorite Wookiee. The crew is also joined by Terbus the Porg whose sole job is to bring the cute! In this issue we see Chewie and his crew land on Kashyyyk and Chewie begins to take down the First Order from his base in the Black Forest.

I really enjoy Derek Charm’s art style. He has gorgeous details and clean lines in every scene. It adds to the all ages friendly feel of the book.

This issue also has a second story Secret Agent Droids by the creators : Michael Moreci: Writer, Tony Fleecs & Matt Herms: Artists and Tom B. Long: letterer.

This story features the droid crew : C-3po, R2D2 and BB-8. The droids are supposed to stay on their ship at the Garel City Spaceport but when R2 intercepts a message asking for help the three take off on an adventure.

I really enjoyed seeing the droids working together in this story and I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

This issue has some great storytelling and I’m looking forward to the next few issues.
